The purpose of this business is to provide the solar industry an architecturally pleasing solar carport solution that is as easy to build as the ground mounted racking systems available today that can be installed by a small crew and at a reasonable cost. Solar Carports Direct will provide completely engineered and approved solar carport kits to individuals, contractors and solar installers with installations also available through our in-house contracting.
Our direct experience with some the world’s leaders in ground mounted solar racking has led us to finding new and ingenious ways to construct solar carports with the same approach; beautiful designs that will add significant value to a home or business with minimum parts and minimum labor for installations.
Bruce C. Alexander, PE
Bruce Alexander has been at the forefront of many solar projects beginning with a 5.5 MW project called CalRenew1 Solar Farm, the first large scale project interconnected with PG&E under the California Renewable Standards and the first CAISO interconnected facility. From that point on he has been engineering ground mounted racking systems for numerous projects with clients such as HITLI, Krinner, Mounting Systems, Terra Smart, Bayo-s, Fortune Energy, Martifer Solar, Beam Energy Group, Sun Power, Conergy, Soventix, UNIRAC, DPW and many others. This direct experience with some the world’s leaders in ground mounted solar racking has led to finding new and ingenious ways to construct solar carports with the same approach as the leader’s designs with minimum parts and minimum labor for installations.
Bruce Alexander is a licensed Civil Engineer and General Engineering Contractor with primary licenses in California and has been in responsible charge for over 100 MW of solar installations in California and other locations including Hawaii, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Canada
Laurie is a proven leader whenever sales are involved. With a successful background of 34 years of real estate sales and lending, she is taking that passion to the solar industry. For the past 10 years, she has worked with her partner and husband, Bruce Alexander, to create something that the industry could use. Being an artist as well, it was frustrating for her to look at the appearance of standard solar jobs because they simply were not appealing. She wanted to add aesthetics like color, simple designs and art, and benches that would enhance each project and not break the bank.
A woman-owned business in the solar industry is not common and is, therefore, an empowering venture. After many years of referral-based business in sales, Laurie realized that this was something the solar industry needed as well. She believes in working together and networking to make the best solar statement possible.
Laurie’s goal is to provide a carport kit that is beautiful, simple to construct, pleasing to the eye, and cost-effective. This is the new norm.
